Morning Movement Ritual

Seated meditation is a great practice, but let’s face it.. it doesn’t work for everyone, and if it’s not something that you enjoy, you will probably just skip it anyhow, so I invite you to create a practice that you can do sustainably, and with joy.

Take our your journal and write down the things that you do to feel your best. Free flow a list of things, and then pick one thing to do each day for 5 minutes to get you ‘in the zone’ and set the tone for your day.

I love music!! and I love to start my day with some music and dancing in my kitchen. I might light some sage or palo santo and simply move my body and let go of stagnant energy. I am a mom, so my morning also involves accommodating many demands from my child as well as making breakfast & packing lunches… but somehow I manage to do my dance practice!! After I dance, I like to get still for a moment, feel my feet upon the earth, with my spine long, and take few deep breaths into my heart. I love the ‘half smile’ that Thich Nhat Hanh recommends, and I try to do it as I am having my few moments of stillness, and then summon to my attention Gratitude for the opportunity to be alive, and a declaration to myself on how I want to experience my day today. This is my way of setting an intention, in the form of an ‘I AM’ that declares it as being here now.

I know that many of us have busy lives, and especially busy mornings, but having a morning ritual is one of the most powerful ways to let your subconscious mind know that you are WORTHY of love. Tony Robbins always says, ‘if you don’t have 10 minutes for yourself, you don’t have a life.’ When we take this time for ourselves, we retrain our subconscious mind to notice the good in our lives, to bring forth into our attention that which we desire, and we set the tone for how we experience our day.

Having a morning practice is one of the most important aspects of creating a highly successful and fulfilled life.. which you are totally worthy of. Start to honor your worthiness of everything wonderful.. by carving out a few minutes for yourself, each morning!

Here is a 15 minute morning movement ritual that you can do along with me!! Try it out and see if it’s for you, and/or create you own ritual that you will wake up excited to do!

Here is the musical playlist for this movement ritual along with a few more tracks you might enjoy.  Remember, this is YOUR practice, you can make it your own, and it can be done to ANY music that you choose… here are some other tracks you may try.. find ones you like.. and change it up frequently!
